Event organizers all over the world agree that most events in the future will contain elements to reach a virtual audience. The events will become hybrid: with a small number of people at the location and with large-scale broadcasting, as well as virtual interaction tools.
Why hybrid events will become the norm: 4 objective reasons
- The world has changed. It is naive to think that after the past event, the sphere will be restored, and everything will be as before. People will be afraid to attend live events for a long time to come. And unstable statistics of morbidity will lead to repeated forced isolation more than once.
- There will be no events for events. After working and chatting online for several months, people realized that sometimes it makes no sense to fly thousands of kilometers to meet for several hours. The coming financial crisis will force companies to significantly cut their corporate travel budgets. Virtual contacts will become the norm.
- Music festivals and personal (family) events will be the first to come back to life. But corporate events – and this is one of the pillars of the industry event – will be resumed last. And it won’t be soon. So, Microsoft has already announced a ban on corporate travel to events with the participation of more than 50 people: at least until the 3rd quarter of 2021.
- Live events will not be able to collect all interested visitors. It is likely that people at risk will choose to connect to the event online.
How it will be: what to expect from hybrid events
Before the pandemic, few organizers dared to fully prepare hybrid events. The online component was cumbersome, time-consuming, even rewarding. Few people understood how really necessary it was and what effect it had.
