Japan helps mitigate iodine deficite
The deficit of iodine hits Ukraine hard. The element’s lack in Ukrainian diet leads to lower IQ and decreased work productivity in children and grownups; it also costs a minimum of $50 mln per year. Japan is willing to help Ukraine fight this problem through its leverage in UNICEF. The Day of Japan at the National Technical University in Kyiv was one event where children and adults alike could learn more about iodizied salt and its beneficial effects as well as enrich themselves not just with iodine but with traditional and modern Japanese culture as well.
